The India Young Professionals Scheme Visa allows citizens of India aged from 18 to 30 years to reside and work in the UK for a maximum of 2 years. Applicants have to be first chosen through a ballot prior to filing an application for this UK Visa. For entering the ballot they have to prove their eligibility.

Eligibility

To qualify for the IYPS Visa, the applicant must:

• Be a citizen of India aged 18 to 30 years
• Be aged a minimum of 18 years on the planned travel date to the UK
• Possess Bachelor’s Degree level or higher qualification (Level 8, 7, or 6 in RQF - Regulated Qualifications Framework)
• Possess savings of £2,530 for supporting themselves in the UK
• Not possess any children less than the age of 18 years who reside with them or are financially dependent on them

Individuals who have already resided in the UK on a Youth Mobility Scheme Visa or this Scheme cannot apply for IYPS.

Eligible Qualifications

Applicants must possess either:

• A Bachelor’s Degree level or higher qualification in the UK (Level 8,7 or 6 RFQ)
• An on-par overseas qualification at the Degree level or higher

Application Process

• Enter the IYPS ballot if you are eligible
• Once you are selected in the ballot, you will be offered the ITA - Invitation to Apply for the Visa
• Arrange the documents required for the Visa application
• Submit the application for the IYPS Visa

When to file an application

Once you are selected in the ballot, you will get the ITA for the Visa through e-mail. You will have 3 months from the date of receiving the e-mail to:

• Applying online
• Proving your identity
• Submitting your documents

You may have to allow additional time if you require an appointment to do this. You will get to know if you need one when you commence your application.

You have to arrive in the UK within 180 days of filing an application for the Visa.

If you have applied on 1 August 2024, you have to arrive in the UK by a maximum of 1 February 2025.

Required Documents

With the application, you will have to provide:

• An authentic Passport or other document that proves your nationality and identity
• Proof that you possess in your bank account a minimum of £2,530 /bank statements
• Proof of your educational credentials
• TB/ tuberculosis test report if you are residing in India or any other listed nation
• A clearance certificate or report from the Police for nil criminal past
• An empty page for the Visa in your Passport

After submitting the application online, having demonstrated your identity, and offering your documents, usually, you will receive the decision on your Visa application within 21 days.

Application fee/costs

You have to pay:

• Visa application fee: £298
• Healthcare Surcharge: £1,552

Note:

• You must prove having personal savings of £2,530
• The application fee will not be reimbursed if in case your application is denied

Visa Validity

• IYPS Visa holders can stay and work in the UK for a maximum of 2 years
• During these 2 years Visa holders can arrive in the UK and exit from the UK at any time
• Applicants who attain the age of 31 years after receiving the Visa can remain in the UK till the time their Visa is valid

What you can do and cannot do

You can:

• Study, for a few courses you will need the ATAS - Academic Technology Approval Scheme certificate
• Work in majority of the occupations
• Set up a company and be self-employed till the time you have rented premises, the worth of your equipment does not exceed £5,000 and you are not having any employees

You cannot:

• Get your stay extended
• Apply for the majority of the benefits/public funds
• Include members of your family in the application
• Work as a professional sportsperson (like coach)
