Why people of Oman should opt for Permanent Residency (PR) status?

The candidate is allotted a PR status in Canada for a period of five years and it is a family Visa, which provides the candidate with some of the full Canadian Citizen benefits. Few of them are listed below:

  • Health Insurance
  • Right to study, live and work in Canada

  • Right to apply for the Canadian Citizenship after a period of three years.

What are the ways to apply for PR status in Canada?

When planning to migrate from Oman to Canada there are various modes through which you can attain the Permanent Residency status – Express Entry Program, Quebec Skilled Workers Program (QSWP) and other Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs).  Let’s speak about these models in Detail –

Express Entry Program

This method of applying was introduced in January, 2015 and it is an online mode of application filing in which the screening time is 6 to 12 months. Under the Express Entry Program, the candidate is allotted Permanent Residency(PR) status based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points calculated based on the Age, Education, Language proficiency and work experience of the candidate. Under this category, the PR status allows the candidate with the right to settle anywhere in Canada.

There are some ways to increase your CRS points and some of the ways of doing so are listed below

  • Age:  While there is no age limit to shift to Canada, having an age of 18 to 35 years allots highest points to the applicant.
  • Education:  There are points for Educational Qualification in CRS and a Post graduate degree or diploma has more points than a graduation degree.
  • Work experience: Canada is open to invite skilled workers so as to help the country economically. Hence, work experience in the field of high demand can help to achieve high points.
  • Language Proficiency: High scores in IELTS Language, is a good way of scoring high points and increasing the eligibility chances.
  • Adaptability: If you have a sibling or spouse already settled in Canada then it makes you eligible for extra 10 points.

Speculations Surrounding the Draws

The Express Entry Draws which determine the minimum CRS score are taken out after every 15 days and they serve as the yardstick for Invitation to Apply (ITA) for PR status in Canada. It is the minimum point that is required by each candidate to be eligible for the PR Status.  Each Draw sees a change in the score sometimes there is an increase while other times there is a decrease in the minimum score.  There are always speculations around what the next score would be and there is no way of determining what the next score would be.

Provincial Nominee Program(PNP)

It is to be noted that due to some reason if you are unable to get through the federal express entry program then you can apply for a Canadian PR status through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). PNP PR status is also a viable option as some of the provinces would anyways had been your first choice considering their suitability and opportunities. The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) are allocated to the candidate for each province. In this the candidate needs to apply to a particular province for PR status which has its own eligibility guidelines. Like Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP), Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) and Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). After fulfilling the guidelines, the PR status is allocated for a period of five years. It is advisable that although the laws are flexible but if you are being selected by a particular province for a PR status then the candidate should stay in that Province for at least a period of two years before settling in any other province.

Quebec Skilled Workers Program (QSWP)

QSWP is a provincial Nominee Program for Quebec province.  Under this program, the PR status for the Quebec region is acquired and in this process first the approval is sought from the Quebec province and after that the approval is sought by the federal government. It is important to note that Quebec as a region invites skilled workers to its region.
