How to Immigrate from Australia to Canada?

When you are planning to relocate then Permanent Residency (PR) status is the best mode of immigration, it offers you a visas for five years with benefits which are similar to the full citizen rights.  Some of the benefits of the PR status in Canada are:

  • Health Insurance
  • Right to study, live and work in Canada
  • Protection against crime by the law under the charter 6 of the Canadian Law
  • Right to apply for the Canadian Citizenship after a period of three years.
  • Canadian Passport allows you to travel visa free in number of countries
  • Allows you to sponsor your relative in Canada.

When Migrating to Canada from Australia there are two popular immigration routes which are available to the candidate – Express Entry Program and Provincial Nominee Program(PNP)

Express Entry Program

It is an online mode of applying for the PR status in Canada which was started in January 2015 as an initiative by the government to invite skilled workforce to Canada.  Under the Express Entry program, the candidate can acquire the PR Status after the minimum eligibility is met on the basis of Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) Score set by the Express Entry Draws. The EE Draws, decide the minimum qualifying CRS score of the candidate and are declared every fortnight by the IRCC. After the minimum qualifying marks of the candidate are achieved the Candidate is sent an Invitation To Apply (ITA) to which a reply is to be sent within 90 day’s time period.

The score of the candidate are calculated on the basis of following parameters:

  • Age – Although there is no age limit for migrating to Canada but if a person is between 18 to 35 years of age then more points are allocated
  • Language proficiency – it is cross checked through IELTS and CLB examination. Scoring high band in IELTS can guarantee good points to the candidate.
  • Education – Calculated under the ECA, the educational degree should be at par with the Canadian Education Board.
  • Work Experience – The candidate should be skilled and having good work experience makes one eligible for good score points
  • Adaptability – Having a sibling already settled in Canada can help one to garner good points.

As per the latest Express Entry Draw released on 26th March, 2018 the score that is asked for minimum qualification is 456, which is a very less score as per the earlier standards of the IRCC. This is an indication that Government of Canada is looking for more immigrants this year than last year.

Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

While Express Entry allocates the right to settle anywhere in the country, the PNP grants the PR status for a particular province only. PNP PR Status is allocated for a particular province only for which the eligibility is met by the candidate. The eligibility is decided by the Score set by the Province for the candidates based on the parameters of Age, language proficiency, Education, work Experience and adaptability. Every province has its own guidelines and rules for Immigrating to Canada Further, Canada is always looking for skilled workers to migrate therefore having enough work experience can work in your advantage, especially in areas where your job profile is in demand

How to Increase CRS Points?

The best way to increase your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points is to score high grade is IELTS examination. High scores in IELTS Language, is a good way of scoring high points and increasing the eligibility chances. Also, there are points for Educational Qualification in CRS and a Post graduate degree or diploma has more points than a graduation degree. Further, Canada is open to invite skilled workers so as to help the country economically. Hence, work experience in the field of high demand can help to achieve high points. Please note, that if you are married and your spouse is shifting with you to Canada then your partner can also give IELTS and make your chances better.
