How to Go to Canada from India for Work?

Live and Work in Canada From India

The Two Most Popular Pathways into Canada for Work

The Canada immigration system has been restructured to provide more and more liberty to immigrants and enable them to access great living and working opportunities in the country. The Express Entry program has been designed to help worthy immigration candidates to move quickly into the country and take up positions in the local market and business. The two best ways for Indians to take advantage of Canada’s liberal immigration policies is through the Federal Skilled Worker Program and the Provincial Nomination Program. Let us discuss both of these in detail to figure out the important features of each program.

Federal Skilled Worker Program

The Federal Skilled Workers program is easily the most popular immigration stream for Indians. It offers professionals the chance to move to Canada and get work there. Through this, they will be able to access the tremendous work opportunities in Canada and enhance their career potential. The following is a step-wise list of the process of application for immigration to Canada through the Express Entry program. It will tell you the basic steps you will need to take in order to make your application for immigration to Canada. If you follow these steps, then you can submit your immigration application easily. Note however, that this is not a comprehensive list and if you want to get through in the first try, thus saving valuable time and money, then you  should contact us at Nationwide Immigration services. We will provide you with all the information and explain all the procedural steps so that you have clear understanding of the immigration system of Canada. Rad on for the list:

  • Creating the Online Profile
  • The first thing you will need to do to access the Express Entry program’s Federal Skilled Worker Stream is to go online and create an Express Entry profile. You will need to provide the right documentation to support the information you give out in your profile. This will be verified by an immigration officer in Canada if you get selected. For the moment, all you need to do is to make sure that you provide correct information.

  • Getting the CRS score
  • Once you have provided all the relevant information about yourself like age, language ability, educational qualification, work experience etc. then you will be given a certain score. This score will be the basis for your selection for immigration to Canada. The CRS score, as it is called, is calculated on the basis of the abovementioned factors. In the last Express Entry draw the CRS cut-off was at 457. This is a rather high cut-off and doesn’t occur often. Mostly, the CRS cut-off is around 430 to 439.

  • Waiting for the Express Entry Draw
  • The Express Entry draw is held once every 15 days or so and selected applicants have issued an Invitation to Apply. When they have received this invitation, they will have 90 days to make a formal application for the PR visa to the local Canadian embassy.

  • Paying the Money
  • Though making the Canada Express Entry profile is free, once you actually apply for the PR visa, you will have to make some expenses to get it. Also, there are other expenses associated with Canada immigration such as medical certificate, police certification etc. The entire thing will not cost you more than 1700 CAD. However, this does not include other expenses like travelling, cost of giving the IELTS examination and other such expenditures that you need to take up.

  • Moving to Canada
  • This is a major expense and will grow larger with each family member. Also remember that you will be needing clearance certificates from a designated medical examiner and the police for each family member you take with you.

This is a short intro into the Canada immigration process. For a detailed insight into the program and how you can use it to find work in Canada, get in touch with us. Fill out our free assessment form to know more!

Provincial Nomination Program

The Provincial Nomination Program of the IRCC has been designed to let professionals into specific provinces in Canada. This program is for those who cannot get into the Express Entry program but still want to move to Canada. Different provinces in the country have different requirements and the IRCC permits each of these set their own immigration parameters and select people for immigration as per their requirements. One of the biggest advantages of applying for immigration to any province is that you do not need to have an active job offer to apply for immigration to Canada. If you go through the occupation in-demand category, then you can move to Canada without a job offer. However, the condition is that your job must be in-demand in that particular province. So, now that you know the benefits and conditions of applying for Canada immigration through PNPs, let us take a look at the procedure that you need to follow in order to make the application:

      • Create a PNP Profile
      • Just like the process in the Express Entry, you will need to go to the specific website of the province that you are applying to immigrate to and fill out tle=”text-align:justify;”heir form. You will need to provide them with personal details like you did in the Express Entry form.

      • Province Selection
      • If you already have not do this, then go back to your Express Entry profile and in the segment where they ask you if you have any preference to migrate to a particular part or province of Canada, select the province that you want to go to.

      • Selection for Immigration
      • Once you have completed both the profiles, the IRCC and the provincial immigration authorities will assess your profile and if they find it worth selecting, they will issue you a provincial nomination.

      • Getting the ITA
      • After you have received your provincial nomination, you will have to wait for the next Express Entry draw. A provincial nomination is worth 600 points in the CRS ranking, so your immigration will be guaranteed. However, you still need to go through the formality of getting the invitation to apply from the IRCC.

      • Application for PR Visa
      • Once you have the ITA from the IRCC, you will need to make an application for a PR visa within 90 days. If you don’t do so in the given time, then your nomination will be cancelled. Once you get your PR Visa, you will have an additional 1 year to move to Canada.

  • Please note here that there are several conditions attached with moving to Canada after getting the ITA. Firstly, you will have to pay money for getting the PR Visa. Once you arrive in Canada, you will have to go through the standard immigration procedure in which you will have to get a medical clearance and a police clearance certificate for yourself and anybody else who has come along with you.

While the initial immigration procedure for Canada is simple enough and free of cost, once you get selected, you will have to make the abovementioned expenses. We recommend that you get in touch with our Canada immigration experts to find out exactly how much you will need to spend and what will be the exact process of your immigration to Canada from India.
