How to move from Saudi Arabia to Canada?

The Permanent Residency (PR) Status of the Canadian Government is sought by two pathways – Express Entry Program and Provincial Nominee Program(PNP). The PR Status in both the cases is provided for five years and it is a family visa. With the PR Status immigrant is allotted with rights and freedom equal to the full Canadian citizen. While Express Entry allocates the right to settle anywhere in the country, the PNP grants the PR status for a particular province only.

Screening time of application

It is a long process of immigrating to Canada from documentation to medical all the requirements generally take time but thanks to the Express Entry Program the time frame is reduced to 6 to 12 months.

Express Entry Program

Express Entry Program is a fast track mode of applying for a Permanent Residency (PR) status in Canada as the screening time for it 6 to 8 months, it was a mode that was introduced in January,2015 and the Canadian government welcomed the online filing of the application. Under the Express Entry Program, the citizen has the right to settle anywhere in the country and generally it is the skilled workers who are appointed by the Canadian government as they can help in building the economy of the country. The eligibility criteria for Express Entry program is calculated on the point measurement basis by the following personal details:

After the candidate points are calculated the entry is put in a pool out of which Express Entry Draw is taken out which decides the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score which would be the benchmark for qualification. Generally, these draws come out after every fortnight and they decide the fate of the aspirants. Those candidates who get minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score are asked to apply and they are sent an ITA (Invitation to Apply).

  • Age – Although there is no age limit to settle in Canada, maximum points are allocated to those who are in the age limit of 18 to 35 years.
  • Language proficiency – There are two official languages in Canada – French and English. If somebody is proficient in both the languages, then it is an added advantage for that person otherwise knowledge of English is must for Indian Immigrants not only for professional reasons but also for day to day communication purposes. For this purpose, IELTS and CLB tests are conducted which are both recognized by the IRCC.
  • Education –  Education which is at par with Canadian Education Board will establish that you will be able to support yourself and family after moving to Canada. Therefore, a bachelor’s degree or diploma or post-graduation degree from a recognized university is necessary.
  • Work Experience – Canada is very fervent in inviting applications from skilled professionals through federal skilled workers program and Federal Skilled traders program. Hence, it can work in your advantage if you have work experience in a field which is in high demand in a particular province in Canada.
  • Adaptability –  if you have a spouse who will migrate to Canada with you then you will be given extra 10 points for adaptability.

These details are the calculator of points which form the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of the candidate. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) as decided by the IRCC is the benchmark for eligibility of the candidate. It is only after the candidate has received the minimum score in the Express Entry program then the candidate will be allotted the ITA (Invitation to apply). After the ITA is received the time limit to send the application is 90 days.

Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

If God forbid, due to some reason the candidate is unable to qualify through the Express Entry Program then the other way of applying is the Provincial Nominee Program ( PNP) under this method the candidate applies to a particular province and then the eligibility for that particular province is met. The PR status attained is also for the particular province only. The eligibility for every province is different from the other hence different scores make the candidates eligible for different provinces like Saskatchewan asks for a minimum qualification grid of 60 points and Ontario asks for a qualification grid of 400 points for selection. Also, However, the laws are very flexible under the Charter 6 of Canadian laws but it is ethically sound to stay in the province for a minimum period of two years before settling in a new location.

What are the things to be kept in mind when choosing a Province?

Relocating to a new place can be highly intimidating but good research and sound knowledge of the place you will be shifting to before changing the location can help you to a major extent in resetting. Based on your skills, talent and work experience you can choose a province where your line of work is in high demand, this will help your case attain high points and also will be economically viable for you in the future. Further, it is important to note that every province has different requirements and as every candidate has different points the eligibility should match the suitability in such a crucial step. Selecting the right place to settle can alter your experience and happiness level to a major extent. Thus, it is a decision which should be wisely undertaken after reviewing all the options available.
