Express Entry invited 3,350 candidates for Canada PR Visa with a drop in CRS-score

Latest Express Entry Draw - 12th June 2019

Immigration, Refugee & Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held an express draw on June 12, inviting a total 3,350 candidates who have applied for Canada permanent resident through Federal Government’s Express entry program.

Express entry program manages the profile of the candidates who have registered themselves under Canada’s three main economic immigration programs – Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC). Each profile of the candidates is awarded score under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, based on which rank of the express profiles are determined in the express pool.

The highest ranked profile has issued an Invitation to Apply (ITA) via regularly held express draws. ITA allows the candidate to submit their application for Canada PR visa to IRCC. Aim of the government of Canada is to process the applications for Canada PR Visa from express entry candidates in six months or less.  

What is the main factor for determining CRS cut-off?

In the latest draw, the minimum CRS score required was set at 465 points which is a decrement of 5 points from the previous CSR score cut-off. The time interval between the two consecutive draws is an important influence on determining the CRS score cut-off. Previous CRS cut-off of 470 points was higher because of the four-week gap between the two all-program express draws. But only two weeks have passed between the previous draw of May 29 and the latest draw of June 12. This less time period gives less time to replenish express draw with capable and skilled immigrants thus decreasing the CRS score cut-off.

With this latest draw, IRCC has issued a total 38,450 ITAs in this year to the express entry candidates. These numbers of ITAs are 6,250 more than the number of ITAs issued at the same time in 2018. This increment is in-line with Canada’s higher admission target for 2019 and 2020 for the three programs managed by express entry program.

IRCC used their tie-break rule with time stamp – June 6, 2019, at 13:51:59 UTC.  This means the candidates who have entered the express pool before the time stamp and have scored minimum 465 and above, were issued an ITA.

In order to increase the CRS score, getting a provincial nomination can give a major boost to a candidate’s CRS score. An express entry candidate who is able to get a provincial nomination certificate is awarded 600 CRS points thus making sure candidate will be issued an ITA to apply for Canada PR visa to IRCC.
