Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) held its latest provincial draw on December 6th that invited a total of 221 immigration candidates who have applied for a provincial nomination for Canada PR Visa. Candidates who were invited in the latest draw were registered under MPNP’s Skilled Worker in Manitoba, Skilled Worker Overseas categories and International Education Stream.
Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) were issued in the draw in the following manner:
With this total LAAs issued by MPNP, this year has come to 7,362.
In the draw, 18 Express entry candidates were also invited. Express Entry program is the Canada’s main source for skilled immigrants and it manages the pool of the candidates registered under the immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
Express entry registered candidates are ranked in the express pool through the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), based on points that are awarded measuring the human capital factors such as wage, work experience, language ability, and education. The highest-ranked profiles are then issued the Invitation to Apply (ITA) to apply for Canada PR Visa.
For an Express Entry candidate to get a provincial nomination, they are awarded 600 CRS points.
For candidates to be considered for a provincial nomination through MPNP’s Skilled Worker in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas categories, they are required to register an Expression of Interest (EOI).
Candidate’s EOI profile is awarded points out of a total of 1000 points, with points awarded for credentials like education, work experience, connection to Manitoba and language proficiency with other major factors.
Higher ranked EOI profiles are then issued an LAA that allows them to apply for provincial nomination. In the latest draw, the candidate with the lowest score of 522 points was invited under Skilled Workers in the Manitoba category.
Under the Skilled Worker Overseas Stream, the candidate had a minimum score of 718 points.
Another major category of MPNP is the Skilled Worker Overseas Category that allows the province to select and nominate skilled foreign workers who can assist in Manitoba’s labour market. This candidate needs to have an established connection to provinces such as family or friends, previous work experience or education in the province, or an invitation through one of MPNP’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives, among other major requirements.
Under MPNP’s Skilled Worker Overseas, a total of 23 candidates were invited through Strategic Recruitment Initiative. For a candidate to be invited through Skilled Worker in Manitoba Category, they must be working in the province and have a full-time, permanent job offer from their employer, among other major criteria.
Graduates with in-demand skills in Manitoba are invited under MPNP’s International Education Stream. There are three sub-categories: Graduate Internship Pathway, Career Employment Pathway, and Student Entrepreneur Pathway.
