9th express entry draw 2018

3,900 candidates invited in the latest Express draw to apply for Canada PR Visa

Latest Express draw 2nd October 2019

Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held their latest express draw on October 2nd that invited a total of 3,900 Express Entry candidates to apply for Canadian Permanent Residency status.

Express entry program, a point-based program, manages the profiles of the candidates who have applied for Canada PR Visa through Canada’s three major skilled immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class.

To rank the profiles of the candidates in the express pool, Express Entry uses a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) that awards points to the express profiles based on selection factors like age, language proficiency, work experience, etc. The highest-ranked profiles are then issued Invitation to Apply (ITA) to apply for Canada PR Visa to the IRCC.

Having a job offer is not mandatory in order to enter the express pool.

In the draw held on October 2nd, the CRS score cut-off was set at 464 points. This draw invited 300 candidates more than the previous express draw held on September 18th.

IRCC used their tie-break rule to issue ITAs in the latest express draw with time stamp used set at 15:05:04 UTC, 20.09.2019. This mean candidate that have entered express pool before the used time-stamp and are able to score minimum 464 points or more were issued the ITAs in the latest draw. Once an express entry gets an ITA, they have 60 days to submit their application with a proper set of documents to the IRCC.

With the 3,900 ITAs in this draw, the total of ITAs issued in this year has come to 67,300 ITAs. With this pace, IRCC will be able to break their record for their most number of ITAs issued in a single year set in the year 2018 – 89,800 ITAs.

If the two consecutive express draws are held after a long pause, then the CRS score cut-off increases and if they are held after a short pause, then the CRS score cut-off decreases.

Another immigration pathway for Canada PR Visa is the Provincial Nomination Program (PNP). In case an express entry candidate is able to land the provincial certificate, they are awarded 600 CRS points. Some of the PNPs that were active after the previous express draws of September 18th were are as follows:
