In the month of April, a total of two draws has taken place that sees a total of 320 Express Entry candidates invited to apply for a provincial nomination for Canada permanent residence.
Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) has released the details of the draws recently held on April 1, and April 14.
The first provincial draw held on April 1st invited a total of 120 immigrants for provincial nomination. For a candidate to be eligible they did no required a job-offer, however, they are required to have a valid express entry profile.
The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score was set at 381 points. CRS points are awarded to the express entry candidates based on their credentials like age, work experience, education, and language proficiency.
On the draw held on April 14th, minimum CRS score requirements were set at 353 points with a total of 200 Express entry candidates invited for Alberta provincial nomination.
For an express entry candidate to get a provincial nomination certificate, they are given a major boost of 600 CRS points. These many points effectively guarantee the candidate to get an Invitation to Apply (ITAs) to apply for Canada PR Visa to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Since Canada’s travel restrictions have come into effect from March 18, Express entry draws have been held frequently targeting Canadian Experience Class and candidates who have been nominated for provincial nominations.
For AINP, candidates are required to have work experience in a skilled occupation that supports the province’s “economic development and diversification priorities” in order to be eligible for a provincial nomination through AINPs “enhanced stream” – Alberta Express Entry Stream.
Following are the three eligibility criteria, where AINP may give priorities to the candidates that are able to meet them:
In 2020, AINP has invited a total of 1,207 Express entry candidates. In 2019, a total of 6,884 Express entry candidates were invited by the AINP for provincial nomination. AINP’s provincial nomination allocations for the year 2020 have not yet released.
