Alberta PNP drops CRS Score Cut-off to 322 in the latest provincial draw

AINP Invites a total of 200 Express entry candidates for provincial nomination with minimum CRS score of 322 points through it’s Alberta Express Entry Stream in the latest round of invitation held on April 29.

Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) released the details of the latest round of invitations that invited a total of 200 invitations, also known as Notification of Interest (NOI) to Express Entry candidates on April 29, with the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 322 points.

If the application of an express entry candidate for provincial nomination is approved by the AINP, they are given a major boost of 600 CRS points. These extra points guarantee that the candidate gets an Invitation to Apply (ITA) to apply for Canada PR Visa in the next express entry draw.

Since the implementation of travel restrictions on March 18, IRCC – Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have been holding Express entry draws that are targeting express entry candidates with the provincial nomination and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates.

Alberta currently only considers candidates for provincial nomination if they already live and work in the province. Normally, it is not necessary to have a job offer to receive an NOI via the AINP’s “enhanced” stream – Alberta Express Entry Stream.

However, Alberta offers some flexibility to PNP applicants who cannot submit all documents due to service interruptions. The AINP will accept copies of the documents and if the candidate meets the necessary requirements, their file will be kept for 60 calendar days.

Alberta Express Entry Stream allows the province to search for skilled candidates in the federal government’s express entry pool. They must have experience working in a profession that supports the province’s economic development and diversification priorities, although the AINP does not provide a list of eligible professions.

With special measures in place against coronaviruses, the AINP now requires that applicants meet the following criteria to receive an appointment:

  • Currently work in the province, even if they work from home;
  • Have a work permit authorizing them to hold their current job;
  • Have a full-time, paid job, meet the provincial minimum wage, exceed the requirements of the Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA); and they must work in an eligible profession.
  • Ineligible occupations include those in the high-wage and low-wage occupations of the Government of Alberta, and the list of ineligible occupations in the Alberta Opportunity Stream.

Applicants who worked full time before the coronavirus pandemic and those who work in a regulated profession who cannot meet permit requirements will have their application pending for 60 calendar days. If applicants do not have a recent employment history in the province, their applications will not be processed until further notice.

AINP so far has issued a total of 1,407 invitations to the Express Entry candidates. This year’s annual allocations for nomination for AINP have not yet been released.
