British Columbia PNP has decided to extend its Tech Pilot until June 2021. Tech Pilot provides a fast-track immigration for the tech workers who have a job offer letter in any one of 29 eligible occupations to apply for a provincial nomination for Canada PR Visa.
The job offered must be for a minimum duration of one year, and there must be a minimum of 120 days remaining at the time of application.
BC PNP – British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program, held tech draws every week in order to minimize the wait for eligible employers and applicants, who both are able to meet the program’s eligibility criterion.
Tech pilot applications are processed by a dedicated Tech pilot processing team within the next business day, prioritizing the tech pilot applicants. The government website states that the applications under tech pilots are processed within 2 to 3 months from the time of receipt.
What is the process for the BC PNP Tech Pilot?
The very first step for an immigrant to apply under Tech pilot is to create an online profile and register under the SIRS – Skills Immigration Registration System. They have to choose between BC PNP’s two sub-categories: Express Entry BC and Skill Immigration to process.
After this BC PNP holds weekly draws and sets the minimum score required to get an invitation to apply for provincial nomination. Candidates who are able to get an invitation have 30 days to submit their application. BC PNP will then process the application, giving priority to candidates under Tech pilot.
With the successful nomination, candidates can then submit their application for permanent residency to the IRCC – Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada. Candidates will receive a work permit support letter that will allow them to work while their application for Canada PR Visa is being processed by the IRCC.
