Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held the latest express draw on January 22nd to invite a total 3,400 express entry candidates who have applied for Canada PR Visa through three major skilled economic immigration programs:
In this draw, the CRS score cut-off was set at 471 points, which is two points less than the previous minimum CRS score required in an express draw that was held on January 8.
With this, IRCC has now issued 6,800 Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the year 2020 through the Express Entry program.
According to Canada’s three-year immigration plan, the admission rate for skilled immigrants is slated to increase from 85,800 for the year 2020 to 88,800 for 2021.
As mentioned before express entry manages the profiles of the three skilled immigration programs. All the registered profiles are submitted together in the express pool. With the help of the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, these profiles are ranked in the express pool. Higher ranked profiles are then issued an ITA to apply for Canada PR Visa to IRCC.
Having a job offer is not mandatory to be eligible under the Express Entry program but it can help in getting more CRS scores.
IRCC applied their tie-break rule with the time stamp used set on May 9, 2019, at 01:16:02 UTC. This means the candidates who have submitted their profile before the used time stamp and have scored a minimum of 471 points, were issued the ITAs.
For an ideal application under the Express Entry program for Canada PR Visa, it took around 6 to 8 months to get processed.
Nine province & two territories in Canada have a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) with an “enhanced stream” that allows the provinces to search for skilled immigrants in the express pool. For an express entry candidate to get a provincial nomination certificate, they are given a major boost of 600 CRS points.

Before initiating the immigration process, I was a bit skeptical, however, after having a word with their consultant who explained the whole process to me over the phone without trying to sell their service, I felt assured. I did not give it a second thought and initiated my immigration process. All the case managers at Nationwide Visas are well-versed with the process and never fall short of expectations whenever I walk up to them with any queries.
