Express Entry Candidates Can Apply for New Brunswick Provincial Nomination Certificate

New Brunswick provincial nomination

Skilled Immigrants who have applied for Canada Permanent residence through federal government’s Express entry program can now get an invitation to apply for provincial nomination by New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP). To get an invitation, it is not required for the candidate to submit Express of Interest with New Brunswick.

In an update published, July 26, NBPNP stated,” It will on occasion, invite candidates directly from the Federal Express Entry pool in response to provincial labor-market needs.”

Express entry is the flagship program for Canada immigration. A point-based program that manages the pool of the candidates registered under Canada’s three main skilled economic immigration programs – Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC). With the help of ranking system – Comprehensive Rankings System (CRS), candidates are ranked in the pool based on the points awarded to them, linked to candidates’ credentials like age, language proficiency in English or French, educational qualifications and other major selection criteria.

For an express entry candidate, to get a provincial nomination certificate, gives a major boost to their CRS score. With 600 points awarded for the same, these many points make sure that the candidate is able to get the Invitation to Apply (ITA) to apply for Canada PR Visa.

There are many PNPs with the stream that are to target the skilled candidates in the federal express pool. Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) has Human Capital Priorities Stream, Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) has Alberta Express Entry stream and Nova Scotia PNP has Labour Market Priorities Stream that allows them to look for the candidates with required skill sets and work experience in the express pool.

All the express entry registered candidates who will get selected by NBPNP, will receive a Letter of Interest (LOI) in their express profile. Candidate invited will still be needed to meet the requirements for the NBPNP’s Express Entry Labour Market Stream (EELMS). New Brunswick will be using a new approach in addition to EOI based invitations issued through EELMS.
