Express Entry Candidates with CRS Score 352 Invited to Apply For Provincial Nomination

Province of Alberta held two provincial nomination draws on July 31st and August 7th to invite 352 Express Entry candidates to apply for provincial nomination to get their hands on Canada PR Visa.

In the draw held on July 31st, province of Alberta issued a total 319 Notification of Interest (NOIs) to Express Entry candidates with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores of 400 points and above. On the first draw of August month that was held on August 7th, comparatively smaller NOIs were issued to Candidates with CRS score as low as 352 points with total 35 NOIs issued to express entry candidates.

Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) invited immigrants through their express entry linked stream – Alberta Express Entry Stream that provides an immigration pathway to search for the skilled immigrants in the federal government’s express pool. AINP invites those candidates who are able to meet the stream’s eligibility and requirements and issued an Invitation to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence.

The very first step to be considered for the provincial nomination through express entry linked stream is to create an Express Entry profile.

For to be eligible under Alberta Express Entry stream, having a job offer or previous work experience is not required. However, priority is given to the applicant who is having work experience in an occupation that supports the province’s economic development and diversification priorities. Alberta does not provide a list of occupations that are eligible in the province. Priority is given to candidates with:

  • A job offer and/or work experience in Alberta
  • A degree from a Canadian post-secondary institution and a valid job offer; OR
  • A parent, child or sibling already living in Alberta

But there are some factors that can decrease the candidate’s likelihood of getting an invitation from Alberta. Those factors are as follows:

  • The Express Entry expiry date is within three months of the draw
  • Certain occupations such as those listed in the Alberta Opportunity Stream Ineligible Occupations list

When compared with the CRS score requirement of the Federal Express Entry program, AINP CRS score cut-offs is much lower. The lowest CRS cut-off in the 14 all-program Express draw in 2019 so far was 438 points. AINP’s July 10th had the highest CRS point requirement of 425 points which is well below than the express draws.

On total four occasions in 2109, Alberta provinces have invited Express Entry candidates with CRS score as low as 300 points through their Alberta Express Entry stream. Three draws had the minimum CRS score requirement of 301 points and the other had the CRS cut-off requirement of 302 points.

For an Express entry candidate to land the provincial nomination, it gives the CRS points a major boost of 600 points. These many points make sure that the candidate is able to get the Invitation to Apply (ITA) to apply for Canada PR Visa to the Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
