9th express entry draw 2018

Express Entry candidates with CRS score as low as 300 invited by Alberta for Provincial Nomination

Alberta Invited Express Entry candidates with CRS score as low as 300

Province of Alberta released the details of the last two provincial draws – Number of invitations issued and minimum score requirement. On the draw held on Jan 22nd, AINP – Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program, issued a total 201 Invitation to apply to the express entry candidates. They are required to have a minimum of 350 CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score to be invited.

On the other provincial draw held on Jan 29th, invitations were issued to candidates with minimum CRS scores as low as 300 points. A total of 150 invitations were issued.

AINP – Express entry Stream, allows the province to search for skilled immigrants in the federal government’s express pool where the profiles of the immigrants who have applied for Canada PR Visa through three federal economic immigration programs are submitted together. Express entry program manages the profiles of the before mentioned registered under Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

For an express entry candidate to land a provincial nomination certificate, they are awarded major 600 CRS points. These many points effectively guarantee that the candidate gets an ITA to apply for Canada PR Visa to the Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

One of the major advantages of AINP is that the immigrants with low CRS scores are also able to apply for Canada PR Visa as the latest express draw set the minimum required CRS score at 472 points on Feb 5th.

For any immigrant to be eligible for AINP, they are required to have work experience in an occupation that supports the province’s “economic development and diversification priorities”

There is no list of eligible occupations that are provided by Alberta. Priority is given to candidates who have the following three criteria:

  • A job offer and/or work experience in Alberta;
  • A degree from a Canadian post-secondary institution and a valid job offer; OR
  • A parent, child or sibling already living in the province

A total of 501 express entry candidates have been invited by the province of Alberta in the month of January.
