How easy is it to immigrate to Canada from UK?

The best part of moving and relocating to Canada is that it is a country which is accepting of immigration and provides them with a warm reception. The needs of the Immigrants are taken care off by the IRCC, the regulatory body for Canada Immigration and foreigners are accepted with open arms and provided with adequate opportunities to settle. Thus, when an individual is planning to settle in Canada from United Kingdom then the process of immigrating is undertaken without much hassle and lenient immigration laws make it possible for the immigrant to undertake the process stress free. Further, adequate infrastructure and employment opportunities make Canada as a favourable location to settle from United Kingdoms.

How can a person from United Kingdom immigrate to Canada?

For a person planning to settle in Canada from UK, he needs to acquire the permanent Residency (PR) status in Canada with the help of which he can find employment, accommodation and enjoy various other benefits entitled by the Government of Canada like health insurance etc. For this purpose, the candidate needs to apply for the PR status through the pathways – Express Entry program and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

Express Entry Program

It is an online application in which the candidate is evaluated on the point based measurement done on the basis of personal information. It is the fastest way to immigrate to Canada which invites skilled labour in Canada, under which the points of the candidate are calculated and eligibility is sought for the Entry Entry Draws in which the IRCC, which decides the minimum qualifying marks for each candidate and Invitations to Apply ( ITA) are sent by the Government of Canada. The time period to apply for Visa after the ITA is 90 days.

The qualification for PR Status is sought on the basis of:

  • Age – If you are between the age of 18 to 35 then you are eligible for maximum points.
  • Language Proficiency – The language proficiency of the Candidate is tested through IELTS and CLB examination. In IELTS scoring a high band allots you with more points. It will work in your advantage if minimum of 6 band is maintained in each category of reading, speaking and writing.
  • Education – Higher education allots more points to a candidate. However, your degree should be from a recognized university so that your education status can be calculated at par with the Canadian examination board.
  • Work Experience – Canada is always on the lookout for skilled candidates thus having work experience especially in a field of high demand at a particular province can work positively in your advantage.
  • Adaptability – If there is some sibling of the candidate staying in Canada then the candidate is eligible for higher points.

Express Entry program is a masterstroke of the Government of Canada is which the Skilled labour is attracted towards the country to help the country economically and invite immigrates with capabilities so as make the country culturally diverse and global. Some of the core advantage points of the Express entry program are listed below:

  • The process of Express Entry at times takes six months’ time only.
  • The time frame of allocation of documents after the Invitation to Apply (ITA) has been extended from 60 days to 90 days.
  •  As the Express Entry Program is a Federal System the clearance will directly lead to a PR status. All the benefits of the PR status are very similar to full citizen rights.
  •  Express Entry provides candidates with the freedom to settle anywhere in Canada.

Provincial Nominee Program(PNP)

Another way of acquiring a Permanent Residency (PR) Status is through the PNP. It is a system of acquiring PR status from a Particular Province in which the eligibility of the province is met and PR status is acquired for that particular province only. It is important to note that the eligibility criteria for every province is different. Some of the eligibility criteria for the provinces are listed below:

  • Ontario asks for a 400-point grid
  • Saskatchewan asks for a 60 out of point grid.
  • Manitoba Asks for a 60 out of 100 point in MNTB Point grid.
  • Nova Scotia asks for 4.5 Band in IELTS and also that your occupation should be in demand.

Although the laws are pretty flexible in Canada to meet the needs of the immigrants and relocating within Canada is relatively easy than in other countries. It is ethically sound to stay in the province which has provided you the PR status for a minimum period of two years before relocating yourself to a new province. Also, after three years of staying in Canada the candidate is free to apply for the full citizenship from the Canadian Government.

Screening Time of Application for Immigration

In January, 2015, the Government of Canada made it simpler and faster for foreigners to migrate to Canada by employing the Express Entry program. It has made the migration way easier than before and reduced the processing time to a massive level. Now, screening time and processing of the application can be completely with the period of 6 to 12 months through the Express Entry Program

WHAT ARE WORK OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE IN DIFFERENT PROVINCES IN CANADA?

Settling in the Right Province based on your suitability

While all the Provinces of Canada are good and worthwhile to settle, the happiness level and suitability is a very subjective category, which varies from person to person. Since every person has different needs and requirements thus each province will have different effect on different individuals. Thus, it’s good to settle in a province which is most suitable for you. If you have a PR status and planning to relocate to a new location, then after some amount of stay in Canada you would have already become familiar with the culture and work ethics in Canada. However, it is good to research about the new province where you will be relocating to before you uproot yourself completely. Some of the points which can help you in this direction are:

  • Your work profile should be high demand at the new place
  • Your documents should be filed and ready for submission anytime they are asked for enquiry.
  • It is better of you have already applied online for few job profiles before shifting
