9th express entry draw 2018

Invitations Issued by Nova Scotia for Accountants and Auditors under Labour Market Priorities Stream

Invitations issued by Nova Scotia for accountants and auditors

Nova Scotia on January 24th issued invitations for the express entry candidates who have applied for permanent residence visa via the provincial nomination with experience of working as financial auditors or accountants.

Invitations were issued via the Labour Market Priorities Stream that was launched last year. This stream allows the Nova Scotia’s Immigration office to search the federal government’s express pool for the skilled and capable immigrants. Candidates who have submitted their express profile on or after July 1, 2018 were selected for the provincial nomination. Other requirements for the candidates to be eligible for Labour Market Priorities Stream are as follows:

  • Candidates need to have at least five years of work experience in the National Occupational Classification (NOC 111) – Financial Auditors and Accountants.
  • Candidates with CRS scores 400 to 450 were invited by the Nova Scotia’s Immigration Office.
  • Candidates must be having a bachelor’s degree OR completed a program of three or more years at a university, college, trade or technical school, or another institute.
  • Must prove their language proficiency with Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or more in either English or French language.
  • Candidates need letters of references from employers so that they can prove their 5 years of work experience in NOC 1111.

Candidates express entry score or CRS score is based on credentials like age, education, and work experience and language proficiency. Based on these score, candidates profiles are ranked in Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), profile with the highest ranked is then given an Invitation to Apply (ITA). For candidates to be able to apply under Labour Market Priorities Stream, or any other express-entry linked immigration program, they need an express profile. Generally, express entry profiles are valid for a full year (12 months) but in this Nova Scotia’ Immigration office selected the candidates who have submitted their express profile on or after July 1, 2018.

A provincial nomination awards the candidates with 600 CRS points in their express profile that effectively assures the candidates with an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in next express draw held by Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada (IRCC) on a regular period of time.

David Cohen, senior partner with the Campbell Cohen Canadian immigration law firm said,” This draw is potentially good news for some Express Entry candidates with ranking scores below the cut-off in recent Express Entry draws”. “It’s a good reminder of how provincial nominee streams can help express Entry candidates with lower scores achieve their goal of permanent residence.”
