Federal Government’s PGP Immigration Program – Parent and Grandparent is for the Canadian citizens or permanent residences that are above 18 years of age and who want to sponsor the application for their parents and/or grandparents for the Canadian permanent residence visa.
With Canadian government now issuing invitations under the PGP, they are being issued in the same format as the Interest to Sponsors forms were issued during the submission period which was held on January 28.
Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has set a target of 20,000 immigrants in 2019 via Parents and Grandparents program, with first invitations issued on April 24. These invitations were issued in form of email and sent to the registered email address of the applicants and IRCC has said that registered applicant must make sure that they also check their junk mail as there are chances that the invitations could end up there.
Once the applicant gets the invitation they have 60 days from the date they have received the invitation to submit their complete sponsorship application. Interested sponsors have to submit two applications – first is to become a sponsor and second one is from their parents or grandparents for becoming a Canadian permanent residence. Both the application has to be submitted at same time. Format of the application must be the latest version which can be found on the IRCC website.
