Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held their latest express draw on July 10th that issued a total of 3,600 invitations to the candidates who have applied for Canada permanent residence status through Federal government’s Express entry program. This express draw sees the largest number of invitations issued in a single draw since January in 2019.
The cut-off score for the latest express draw was set at 460 points, which is a decrement of two points from the previous cut-off for all program express draw. The larger size of the express draw is in-line with three years higher economic admission rate under three immigration programs – Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class. A portion of Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program which is also having a higher admission rate for 2019 and 2020, also managed by Express entry program.
Express entry program uses a ranking system – Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) that based on the factors like age, language proficiency, work experience and proficiency in English or French awards points to the candidate’s profile. The highest ranked profile has then issued the Invitation to Apply (ITA) to apply for Canada PR visa to the IRCC through frequently held express draws. Once the candidate gets the ITA, they have 60 days to submit their complete application for Canada PR visa.
This latest express draw brings the total number of invitation issued in this year to 45,400 ITA. This puts numbers just above the half-way mark to surpass the record of most number of invitations issued in a single year – 89,800 ITA in 2018.
The draw size of the latest draw was an increase of 250 ITAs over the previous 10 draws that were held since January 30, with each one of them having a size of 3,350 ITAs. The decrement in the CRS score attributes to the fact that only two weeks passed between the two consecutive express draws and the size was larger in comparison to previous draws.
IRCC used their tie-break rule in the latest express draw. Timestamp used for the June 10 draw was June 11, 2019, at 12:27:18 UTC. This means that the candidates who have entered into the express pool before the used time-stamp and had the minimum CRS score of 460 points were issued the ITA to apply for Canada PR Visa.
