Despite the effects of COVID-19 in immigration around the world, this year has started off as a great one for the Express entry program. The first quarter of 2020, has seen the more express entry candidates invited than the previous first quarter of the last two years.
Even though the Canadian government has deviated from regularly scheduled all-program draws after implementing special measures to slow the spread of coronavirus Canada, invitations have consistently been issued. Since March 18, a total of seven express entry draws have been held inviting provincial nominees candidates and Canadian Experience Class candidates.
The previous express entry draw, had the lowest CRS score cut-off so far in this year, with the minimum CRS score requirement set at 455 points.
The month of April has set a new record for the most number of invitations issued in a single month with 8,389 ITAs issued this year. The previous records for the most number of invitations issued in a single month in 2020 were of February with 8,000 ITAs.
The latest express entry brings the total number of ITAs for the year 2020 to 30,989 invitations.
