Latest Express draw invited 3,600 candidates for Canada PR Visa with a decrease in CRS cut-off

Latest Express draw 18th Sept 2019

Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held their latest express draw on September 18, invited a total 3,600 express entry candidates to apply for Canada permanent resident status.

The Express Entry system is a point-based system that manages the profiles of the candidates who have applied under Canada three major skilled economic programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Profiles of the registered candidates are submitted together in the express pool where it is ranked according to their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. This score is awarded based on factors such as age, language proficiency, Work experience and among other major factors.

The minimum CRS score requirement in the latest express draw of September 18 was 462 points which are a decrement of 1 point from the previous express draw. With this draw the total number of Invitation to Apply (ITA) issued in this year, brings the total to 63,400 ITAs. At the same time in the previous year of 2018, only 58,600 ITAs were issued. 2018 was the year when the record for most numbers of invitations issued in a single year was set with 89,800 ITAs issued. This increment in the ITAs issuance is in line with Canada three year immigration plan of higher admission rate for skilled immigrants for the year 2019, 2020 & 2021.

IRCC used their tie-break rule with time stamp used set at August 29, 2019, at 07:57:13 UTC. This means that the candidates who have entered in the express pool before the used time stamp and have the minimum CRS score of 462 points, were issued the ITAs in the latest express draws.

For the candidates who are not able to meet the minimum CRS score requirement, one of the ways to give a major boost to the CRS score is the provincial nomination. If an express entry candidate is able to land a provincial nomination certificate, they are awarded 600 CRS points. These many points make sure that the candidate is able to get an ITA to apply for Canada PR Visa to the IRCC.

Some of the PNPs that were active in recent weeks are as follows:

Some of the streams in the PNPs do not require minimum CRS in order to be eligible to apply for the Provincial nomination.
