Latest Express Draw Invites 3,500 Immigrants to Apply for Canada PR Visa

Latest Express Draw 6th Feb 2020

In the latest express draw held by the government of Canada on February 5th a total 3,500 skilled immigrants were issued an Invitation to Apply (ITA) to apply for Canada PR Visa.

The minimum CRS score required in the latest express draw was set at 472 points, which is an increase of one point from the previous express draw’s CRS cut-off.

Express entry program, introduced in 2015, manages the pool of the immigrants who have applied for Canada PR Visa through Canada’s three major skilled economic immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

With the use of the ranking system – Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), all the profiles are ranked based on their CRS score in the express pool. Highest ranked profiles are then issued ITAs through frequently held express draws to apply for Canada PR Visa to the Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Express entry candidate have to submit their application for Canada PR Visa with the documents required within 60 days of getting an ITA.

With the latest draw, the total number of invitation issued in this year has come to 10,300 ITAs. Target for highly skilled immigrants through express entry program is slated to rise from 85,800 ITAs this year to 88,800 in 2021.

IRCC applied their tie-break rule with time stamp used set at January 30, 2020 at 07:36:26 UTC. This means the candidates who were able to submit their profile in express profile before the used time stamp and had the minimum CRS score of 472 points were issued ITAs in the latest round of invitations.

Target for Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), portion of which is managed by express entry program, is also set to rise to 67,800 in 2020 and 71,300 in 2021.

A total nine provinces and two territories in Canada have PNPs which have “enhanced” streams that allow the provinces and territories to search for skilled immigrants in the federal government’s express pool.

Some of these “enhanced streams” has low or even no CRS score requirement. For an express entry candidate to land a provincial nomination certificate, they are given a major boost of 600 CRS points. These many points effectively guarantees candidate to get an ITA.
