For the first time in 2020, the CRS score cut-off dipped below 470 points for Canada PR Visa.
Applicants needed a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 469 to be invited to the November 25 invitation round. A total of 5,000 invitations were sent to Express Entry applicants, which equals this draw for the highest number of invitations to apply (ITA) issued in a single draw.
Express Entry program is an application management system for three federal economy class immigration programs: the Skilled Worker Program (Federal), the Skilled Trades Program (Federal), and the Canadian Experience Class.
Applicants who have applied under the above-mentioned immigration programs, as well as some Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), receive a score based on the CRS. Express entry profiles of the candidates are awarded points based on factors such as education, work experience, age, and language proficiency.
Higher ranked profiles are then issued ITAs – Invitation to Apply in latest Express entry draw to submit their application for Canada PR Visa.
The new circulation brings the total number of ITAs issued in 2020 to 97,350. 2020 With the number of ITAs issued to date is the highest ever, 2020 can be another record-breaking year for the Express entry program. The previous Express Entry draw set a record 5,000 ITAs and pushed the number of invitations sent out this year beyond the target.
These many ITAs issued are in-line with Canada’s target to admit a total of 400,000 immigrants in 2021, with the majority of them going through the Express entry program.
When there is a tie between two express entry profiles, IRCC applies the tie-breaker rule. Thus, for this draw, applicants who had a CRS score of 469 or higher, had to have submitted their Express Entry profile before October 15, 2020, at 08:50:10 UTC to receive an invitation.
This year, the CRS requirement has generally risen above 470 for all draws in the program. The program-specific Express entry draw on August 6 targeting candidates under FSTP invited tradespeople with a NOC Code – 415, and previous program-specific draws in the CEC have fallen into the 440s. Express Entry draws that targeted Express Entry candidates with a provincial nomination have higher CRS score requirements because Express Entry applicants who receive a provincial nomination get an additional 600 CRS points. PNP provides a better alternative to express entry candidates to apply for Canada PR Visa with a low CRS score.
