The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) issued a total of 211 invitations. Most of the invitations, 184, went to Express Entry and Labor Impact applicants. Business Impact applicants won the remaining 27, as long as they had a minimum threshold of 97 points.
Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) allow provinces and territories in Canada to select immigrant nominees who meet the needs of their labor market. In some cases, they align with Canada’s federal Express Entry program.
PEI PNP Express Entry Category
The Express Entry category of the Prince Edward Island PNP is an enhanced PNP, which means it works with the Government of Canada’s Express Entry system.
Eligible applicants receive a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score for their age, work experience, education, and language skills in English and French.
Express Entry applicants who receive a provincial nomination receive an additional 600 points for their CRS score and are effectively guaranteed an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
To be considered for a Prince Edward Island provincial nomination, Express Entry candidates must create an EOI profile with the PEI PNP.
EOI profiles are awarded points based on the province’s unique points grid. Higher ranked profiles are then invited to apply through monthly draws. The Prince Edward Island PNP did not provide a breakdown of the number of Express Entry and Impact on Labor applicants invited, nor the minimum EOI score required for each category.
Labour Impact and Business Impact Category
The Labour Impact Category is intended for foreign nationals who have a valid job offer in Prince Edward Island and who have the support of their employer. It is divided into three components: Skilled Worker, Critical Worker, and International Graduate.
Labour Impact applicants must also submit an EOI profile to be considered for a provincial nomination through the Labor Impact category.
The 27 applicants who were invited to the Business Impact category on October 15 required a minimum EOI score of 184. These invitations were issued under the Work Permit stream, which is aimed at foreign entrepreneurs who wish to own and operate a business in Prince Edward Island.
