Medical Reason for Refusal to

Immigrate to Canada

Canada is the most popular country amongst the immigrants. Every year thousands of people aspire to settle down in the serene settings of Canada. There are many perks of living in Canada that fascinate people in abundance which includes wonderful job opportunities, high standard of living, free schooling facility, and many others.

The policies of government keep on changing year after year some benefits the immigrant while the other shatters their dream of living in Canada. As per the latest news, Canada’s Minister of Immigration, Ahmed Hussen takes out an action plan for addressing a controversial policy that rejects the immigrants that likely to cause “excessive demand” on the country’s health-care system. This policy will be released in April 2018.

The excessive demand refers to “the anticipated costs that likely exceed average Canadian per capita health services and social services” over a five or ten year period.

According to this policy, every applicant for Canada immigration has to go through a medical examination by the medical officers. The applicant will be rejected in two cases:

  • If he is suffering from any severe disease that could affect the health of the Canadian public.
  • Secondly if the admission of the applicant might cause an excessive demand on health services provided by the government.

The government is against the policy and advocates in abolishing the ‘excessive demand’ rule of Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. Ahmed Hussen is in consent with the government and is taking steps to put an end to this new policy.
