MPNP Invites 181 Provincial Candidates in the Latest Provincial Draw

The latest MPNP draw invites 181 candidates who have applied for the provincial nomination for Canada PR Visa on June 19.

In its most recent draw, Manitoba invited applicants who are currently abroad, as well as immigrants living in the country.

Manitoba held its 92nd PNP draw on June 19, 2020. It issued a total of 181 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) to the candidates for immigration. LAAs invite immigrants to apply for a provincial appointment for a Canadian PR Visa.

The LAAs have been established for applicants eligible for the following Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) streams –

  • Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 111
  • Skilled Worker Overseas: 58
  • International Education Stream: 12

Ten of the 181 invited candidates had profiles in the federal government’s Express Entry system. So far this year, Manitoba has issued LAAs to 2,335 immigration applicants.

MPNP EOI System

Immigration applicants must register an Expression of Interest (EOI) with the MPNP in order to receive an LAA in Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas categories.

In the Manitoba system, these candidates are ranked on 1,000 points for human capital characteristics such as language skills in English or French, education, work experience, Strong relationship to Manitoba, and other factors.

In today’s draw, successful applicants required a score of at least 504 points to obtain an LAA in the Manitoba Skilled Worker stream. Qualified applicants from overseas workers needed a minimum score of 686 points.

The Skilled Worker Overseas category and Skilled Workers in Manitoba allow the province to appoint skilled workers who can meet the needs of the Manitoba labour market.

Those abroad must have an established connection with Manitoba. This can be evidenced by close family ties or friends in Manitoba, previous experience in the province, or an invitation to one of the MPNP’s strategic recruitment initiatives. They do not need to be physically present in Manitoba at the time of application to be eligible.

Successful applicants in the Manitoba skilled worker category must meet certain criteria, such as having a permanent full-time job offer from an employer in Manitoba.

Finally, international students graduating from an educational institution in Manitoba can receive an LAA under the International Education stream if they have skills in demand.
