PEI holds latest EOI draw for February 2020

Express Entry, Business Impact along with Labour Impact candidates were invited to PEI’s latest provincial nominee program draw.

Candidates in all the 3 economic class immigration categories have inched closer to securing permanent residency in Canada.

A total of 153 candidates encompassing the Express Entry, Labour Impact, and Business Impact categories were invited for the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) draw on February 20th. As per the draw, 143 candidates from the Express Entry and Labour Impact categories are eligible to apply for Canadian permanent residency under provincial nomination.

Prince Edward Island – Express Entry Category

Aligned with the Canadian government’s Express Entry System, PEI PNP’s Express Entry Category manages the applications for economic class immigration categories – Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class.

Under Express Entry, candidates have to create their profiles that go into a pool. Then they receive a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score basis various human capital factors, which involve age, education, work experience and proficiency in the official language.

Those candidates who are able to secure a provincial nomination are awarded additional 600 points which contributes to their existing CRS score, meaning an effectively guaranteed Invitation to Apply (ITA) from the Federal Government of Canada in a later Express Entry draw.

Express Entry candidates are required to create an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with PEI PNP to be considered for a provincial nomination.

The candidates achieving the highest score on their EOI profiles, as per the province’s unique point’s grid, are then invited to apply through monthly draws.

However, PEI PNP has not shared information with respect to the number of Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates invited, and the minimum EOI score requirement for each category.

PEI’s Labour Impact Category

Labour Impact Category is for those foreign nationals who have received a valid job offer in PEI, along with support from their employer. It further has three streams, which are – Critical Worker, Skilled Worker, and International Graduate. Candidates in this category are required to submit an EOI profile to be considered for a provincial nomination.

PEI’s Business Impact Category

Invitations were issued to 10 candidates with an EOI profile in the Business Impact Work Permit Stream by PEI PNP.  The candidates invited were required to have a minimum EOI score of 122. The Work Permit Stream is meant for the entrepreneurs who want to own and run a business in PEI.
