9th express entry draw 2018

Prince Edward Island Invited 199 Express Entry Candidates to Apply for PNP via the Latest Draw

Prince Edward Island

Prince Edward Island sees the number of invitations doubled for the capable immigrants to apply for provincial nomination in comparison to the last month’s draw. In this month a total of 199 invitations are issued in comparison to the 91 invitations issued in the month of January.

In the 199 invitations issued in this month, a total of 170 invitations were issued to the candidates in Prince Edward Island (PEI)’s Express Entry and Labour Impact categories. Another 29 candidates were invited who have applied under the PEI’s Business Impact: Work Permit Stream. PEI’s provincial nomination did not close how many express entry candidates were invited in this latest draw.

PEI PNP is the part of Canada’s provincial nomination program that allows the province to nominate the skilled and capable immigrants for the permanent residency in the provinces. Via this they are able to meet the local labor market demands of the provinces.

Express entry program is a point-based program that manages the profiles of the candidates who have applied under the skilled economic immigration programs – Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC). Express entry candidate’s who have successfully landed a provincial nomination are awarded 600 CRS points. These many points are more than enough to land an Invitation to Apply (ITA) to apply for PR visa to the Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

For express entry program candidates to be eligible to PEI’s PNP they have to register via the “Expression of Interest” system. Express entry candidates do not need a job-offer from the province but preference is given to the candidate’s with Work experience or education from the Prince Edward Island.

PEI PNP’s labour Impact category has three EOI’s based categories:

  • Skilled Workers (In PEI and outside Canada)
  • International Graduates
  • Critical Workers

For candidates to be eligible under these categories they need to have a full-time and long-term job-offer from an eligible employer of the province and plus other eligible criteria.

To be able to apply under PEI’s Work Permit business stream, candidates must be an eligible foreign entrepreneur with business ownership or eligible management experience with the intention to invest or run a business in the province. Work Permit stream also operates on “Expression of Interest” basis and the candidate with the score of 117 points was also issued the invitation.
