The province of Prince Edward Island invited 345 economic immigrant candidates to apply for a provincial nomination in a draw on September 17.
After issuing the highest number of Express Entry and Labor Impact candidate invitations on August 20, the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) distributed another record number of 345 invitations to candidates in all streams on September 17.
A total of 313 Express Entry and Work Impact categories from Prince Edward Island (PEI) received invitations in the last draw.
The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program, Prince Edward Island PNP, did not specifically disclose the number of Express Entry candidates invited to apply.
32 other candidate entrepreneurs were invited as part of the Business Impact: Work Permit Stream component of Prince Edward Island.
The Prince Edward Island PNP is a component of the Provincial Nominee Program of Canada, which allows participating provinces and territories to nominate a set number of economic nominees for permanent residence each year.
The PEI PNP has an Express Entry category that is aligned with the federal Express Entry system, which manages the applicant pool for three of Canada’s major economic immigration categories – Federal Skilled Worker Category, Federal Skilled Trades Category, and the Canadian Experience Class.
PEI PNP’s Express entry category
The Express Entry category of PEI PNP is aligned with the Government of Canada’s Express Entry system.
Eligible applicants receive a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score for their age, work experience, education, and language skills in English and French.
Express Entry applicants who receive a provincial nomination receive an additional 600 points for their CRS score and are effectively guaranteed an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
To be considered for a Prince Edward Island Provincial nomination, Express Entry candidates must create an EOI profile with the PEI PNP.
EOI profiles are awarded points based on the province’s unique points grid. The highest-rated applicants are then invited to apply through monthly draws.
Prince Edward Island PNP did not provide a breakdown of the number of Express Entry and Labor Impact applicants who had been invited, nor the minimum EOI score required for each category.
PEI PNP’s Labour Impact & Business Impact Category
The Labour Impact category is intended for foreign nationals who have a valid job offer in Prince Edward Island and are supported by their employer. It is divided into three components: skilled worker, critical worker, and international graduate.
Applicants in this category must also submit an EOI profile to be considered for a provincial nomination in the Impact on Work category.
The 32 applicants who were invited to the Business Impact category on September 17 required a minimum EOI score of 102. These invitations were issued under the Work Permit stream, which is aimed at foreign entrepreneurs who wish to own and operate a business in Prince Edward Island.
