How to get PR in Canada from Australia

Canada is the dream destination for immigrants from all over the world. With Good infrastructure, individual growth opportunity and better living condition there is a complete package that Canada offers to the people who plan to settle in that country. With lenient immigration laws and warm reception provided to the resettlers Canada has become one of top most location in the world to relocate. Further, Canada has decided to invite more skilled workforce as it wants young and adept employees working in Canada thus the opportunities for different professions have also increased to a major extent.

Benefits of the Permanent Residency (PR Status)

Permanent Residency(PR) for Canada is allotted for a period of five years and is a family visa for the immigrants. Some of the key benefits of the PR status are:

  • Health Insurance
  • Right to study, live and work in Canada
  • Protection against crime by the law under the charter 6 of the Canadian Law
  • Right to apply for the Canadian Citizenship after a period of three years.
  • Canadian Passport allows you to travel visa free in number of countries
  • Allows you to sponsor your relative in Canada.

There are two popular pathways of immigrating to Canada – Express Entry Program and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

Screening time for PR status

In January, 2015, the Government of Canada made it simpler and faster for foreigners to migrate to Canada by employing the Express Entry program. Now, screening time and processing of the application can be completely with the period of 6 to 12 months through the Express Entry Program

Eligibility Criteria for Immigration

The individual is eligible to apply for Canadian PR after the point based evaluation find him suited after reaching the minimum points requirement. The points are calculated under the CRS on the basis of Age, Education, Language Proficiency, Adaptability and Work Experience. The points for all these needs to be complied and submitted to the IRCC through Express Entry Program.

Comprehensive Ranking System( CRS)

Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is a tool that is used for calculating the points of an individual which will determine his / her status of being fit to apply for Canadian PR. The person needs to fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria score wise before applying for Canadian PR. Attaining a good score in IELTS can help you gain you increase your points.

Express Entry Program

Thanks to the Express Entry Program, the screening time of the application is reduced to 6 to 12 months and moving to Canada has become relatively easier than before. Started in January 2015. It is one of the easiest way to apply for a PR Status in Canada. It is a point based evaluation of the eligibility of the candidate based on his personal details. The application for this mode is filed online after which Express Entry Draws decide the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points which is the minimum requirement for ITA (Invitation to Apply). The eligibility of the candidate is calculated on the basis of following categories:

  • Age:  While there is no age limit to shift to Canada, having an age of 18 to 35 years allots highest points to the applicant.
  • Education:  There are points for Educational Qualification in CRS and a Post graduate degree or diploma has more points than a graduation degree.
  • Work experience: Canada is open to invite skilled workers so as to help the country economically. Hence, work experience in the field of high demand can help to achieve high points.
  • Language Proficiency: High scores in IELTS Language, is a good way of scoring high points and increasing the eligibility chances.
  • Adaptability: having a sibling who is already settled in Canada makes you eligible for 10 points.

After the Entries are filed online by the aspirants. All the applications are put in the Express Entry Pool afterwards from that pool, a draw is done in which the minimum qualifying score is set by the IRCC. Those candidates who fit in the minimum score category are asked for Invitations to Apply (ITA) which has to be responded in 90 days’ framework.

Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

PNP is a province based Permanent Residency (PR) status in which the candidate is eligible to migrate and settle into the province for which one has crossed the eligibility criteria. Every province has its own guidelines and rules for Immigrating to Canada Further, Canada is always looking for skilled workers to migrate therefore having enough work experience can work in your advantage, especially in areas where your job profile is in demand. Applying for these locations make your eligible for PNPs (Provincial Nominee Programs). Some of the scores that are asked are:

  • Ontario asks a score of 400-point grid
  • Saskatchewan asks for a score of 60-point grid out of 100
  • Nova Scotia requires that your occupation should be in demand and IELTS score should be 4.5

Different Provinces have different work demand

It will be based on your talent and expertise that you will be hired by a good employer in Canada and for this purpose going through proper channels is extremely essential. Some of the ways through which you can seek employment are:

  • Having a strong resume can work in your advantage as it is the first impression of your candidature for the employer.
  • Filing an online application even before you have landed in Canada so that as you as you enter you can start giving interviews and get ready for employment.
