PEI PNP – Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program in its latest round of invitations issued a total of 254 invitations. Most of the invitations, 221, went to the Express Entry and Labor Impact applicants. Immigrants under the Business Impact category won the remaining 33, as long as they had a minimum threshold of 92 points.
Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) allow provinces and territories across Canada to select immigrant nominees who meet the needs of their labor market. They sometimes align with Canada’s express entry system.
Prince Edward Island PNP has an “enhanced” category – PEI PNP Express Entry category, which means it works with the Government of Canada’s Express Entry system.
Eligible applicants receive a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score for their age, work experience, education, and language skills in English and French.
Express Entry candidates who get the provincial nomination from PEI PNP receive an additional 600 points for their CRS score and are effectively guaranteed an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
To be considered for a Prince Edward Island Provincial nomination, Express Entry candidates must create an EOI profile with the PEI PNP.
Candidate’s EOI profiles are awarded points based on the PEI PNP points assessment grid. The highest-rated applicants are then invited to apply by monthly drawing lots.
PEI PNP did not provide details of the number of Express Entry and Labor Impact applicants who had been invited, nor the minimum EOI score required for each category.
PEI PNP Labour Impact & Business Impact Category
PEI PNP Labour Impact category is for the skilled immigrants who have a valid job offer in Prince Edward Island and are supported by their employer. It is divided into three components: skilled worker, critical worker, and international graduate.
Candidates who have applied for provincial nomination under the PEI PNP’s Labour Impact category must also submit an EOI profile to be considered for a provincial nomination in the Impact on Work category.
The 33 applicants who were invited to the Business Impact category on November 19 required a minimum EOI score of 92. These invitations were issued under the Work Permit stream, which is aimed at foreign entrepreneurs who wish to own and operate a business in Prince Edward Island.
