Latest PEI draw held on March 21, issued the invitation to the candidates who have applied for Canada PR visa under the PEI PNP via PEI’s Express entry, Labour impact and Business Impact immigration categories.
PEI holds the draws on a monthly basis to invite the immigrants who are looking to move to the province by submitting their profile via the Expression of Interest system.
The federal government of Canada has special agreements with 11 Canadian provinces and territories that allow them to nominate the skilled and capable immigrants for permanent residence in respective provinces/territories via the Provincial Nomination Programs (PNP).
A total of 150 invitations were issued in the latest PEI draw, which brings the total number of invitations issued under PEI PNP to 440. Under the 150 invitations, 131 invitations were issued to the candidates who have registered under PEI PNP’s Express Entry and Labour Impact for the provincial nomination. How the invitations were distributed among these categories was not released by the PEI PNP.
Remaining 19 invitations were given to the entrepreneur candidates invited via the Business Impact: Work Permit Stream category for a letter of support for a temporary work permit. This stream allows the eligible foreign entrepreneurs with business ownership or eligible management experience to run or buy the business in PEI. Permit Stream operates on EOI basis and the candidate with the lowest ranked profile which was invited under the latest draw had a score of 110 points.
Express entry registered candidates have to apply for PR visa by three skilled economic program – Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC). Express entry candidates have to register via “Expression of Interest” system for PEI PNP and create a separate EOI profile. Candidate’s EOI profiles are evaluated out of 100 based on the factors like educational qualifications, work experience and language proficiency in English or French. Candidates with highest ranked profiles are then invited to apply for provincial nomination via these monthly draws.
Express entry candidates who are able to get the provincial nomination are awarded 600 CRS points. These many points make sure that the candidate is able to get the Invitation to Apply (ITA) to apply for Canada PR visa to the Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Prince Edward Island’s Labour Impact Category is not linked with express entry program and is divided into three EOI based streams – Skilled Workers (in PEI and outside Canada), International Graduates and Critical workers. In order to be eligible under these streams, candidates need to be working in PEI or have an eligible full-time, long-term job offer from an eligible employer of the province, among other eligibility criteria.

Before initiating the immigration process, I was a bit skeptical, however, after having a word with their consultant who explained the whole process to me over the phone without trying to sell their service, I felt assured. I did not give it a second thought and initiated my immigration process. All the case managers at Nationwide Visas are well-versed with the process and never fall short of expectations whenever I walk up to them with any queries.
