As of Monday, November 30, 2020, Service Canada’s appointment system for scheduling biometric appointments will resume service.
This will allow Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada clients to make their biometric appointments online, which should be more efficient.
Service Canada officers began calling IRCC clients to set up biometric appointments starting in mid-September.
However, as of this next Monday, clients who have not yet been contacted should use the online scheduling tool to book their biometric appointment, as outlined in their biometric instruction letter.
IRCC said in its statement that clients should make an appointment at the Service Canada office closest to them.
Walk-in service is not available, so only people with an appointment will be able to submit their biometrics to Service Canada locations.
Applicants for permanent residence who have not submitted biometrics in the past 10 years will need to make an appointment to complete the biometrics component of their immigration application processing.
IRCC also notes that biometrics exemptions continue to be in effect for applicants for temporary residence in Canada and applicants for permanent residence who have submitted their biometrics within the past 10 years.
