For French speakers, three Canadian areas have provided details about an updated pathway to migrate to Canada on permanent residency.

The following areas have released information regarding their Francophone Community Immigration Pilot (FCIP) streams:

New Brunswick, Acadian Peninsula
Manitoba, St. Pierre Jolys
British Columbia, Kelowna

Employer-focused FCIP was first introduced in 2025.

French-speaking foreigners having a job offer in an outside community of Quebec can apply for Canada PR with the pilot program, given they satisfy other requirements.

The FCIP selects six communities to participate.

Acadian Peninsula, New Brunswick

This coastal community in New Brunswick disclosed its FCIP-designated employers, important industries, and occupations.

The importance of designated employers, priority sectors, and professions

Employers can become FCIP-designated employers if they are in one industry and hiring in a profession with high demand.

Foreign Nationals are required to hold an offer letter from a valid employer to get recommended by the community for the FCIP.

When candidates migrate to Canada, after receiving a community recommendation, they can apply directly for permanent residency to the federal government. They are qualified for a 2-year work visa, so they can continue working while processing their Canada PR applications.

Are there any other communities participating in the FCIP?

The FCIP will be implemented in a total of six communities.

Other than the three given above, they are:

Sudbury: This community has revealed its high-demand sectors, professions, and selected employers.
Timmins: This community identified the industries, professions, and specific employers that were in high demand.
Superior East Region: The FCIP website for this community will be launched at the time of publication.

Eligibility requirements for the FCIP

To qualify for the FCIP, applicants must have a valid offer letter in a high-demand sector and also meet other requirements. They include the following;

Work Experience: Applicants completed one year (1560 hours) of job experience, more than the past 3years. This condition is not applicable to global graduates meeting particular requirements.
