Applying to a university in Ireland

Now that you’ve narrowed down your preferred university and course, you will now have to thoroughly research for information about the subjects, credits, cut-offs, deadlines, tuition fees, etc.

Post this, you can take the English language proficiency exam such as IELTS, TOEFL, or GMAT – and get your Statement of Purpose (SOP), Essays, Resume, and Letter of Recommendation (LOR) in order. Other mandated documents such as academic transcripts, extra-curricular activities certificates’, passports, and proof of funds will also be required. 

Next, you will need to directly apply to the university – and submit the necessary documents. Generally, student intakes in Ireland are during September and February months. Some universities/colleges may also ask you to attend an interview after shortlisting your application.

Other expenses include accommodation, travel, personal expenses, and mandatory medical insurance cost which can range from €7,000 to €12,000 per year.

You can apply for an Ireland Study Visa up to 3 months before your date of arrival in Ireland. The process to apply for an Ireland Study Visa is online, where, you fill up the application (typically a long-stay single-entry student visa) – along with the required proof of funds and other mandated documents. You will need at least €7,000 in your bank account while demonstrating proof of sufficient funds to cover the cost of your stay for one year. Other documents include an admission letter, proof of payment of the first tuition fee installment, passport, employment details, and medical insurance proof.
