Types of Ireland Study Visa

The government of Ireland offers two types of Study Visas to its aspiring international students. 

  • Ireland “C Study Visa”: For study programs for a total duration of 3 months or less. 
  • Ireland “D Study Visa”: For study programs or courses that stretch longer than 3 months. 


What is the eligibility for an Ireland Study Visa 2023?

In order to qualify to apply for an Ireland Study Visa, you would be required to meet the following eligibility criteria.

  • Be at least 18 years old. 
  • Non-EEA students with Stamp 2 permission to remain are permitted to take up part-time employment. Such students are allowed to work in Ireland for up to 20 hours a week during term time, and up to 40 hours a week during holidays. 
  • Non-EEA post-graduate students working on their dissertations post their examinations are allowed to work 20 hours part-time a week. 


What are the requirements for an Ireland Study Visa 2023?

While applying for an Ireland Study Visa, you would be mandated to provide the following supporting documents:

  • Valid Passport
  • Letter of Acceptance from the college/university
  • Proof of payment of the registration and tuition fees
  • Proof of financial funds
  • Two passport-sized photographs
  • Study Permit and visa
  • Evidence for explaining any gaps in the educational history of the candidate
  • English Proficiency

What is the process to apply for an Ireland Study Visa 2023?

You can apply for an Ireland Study Visa up to 3 months before your date of arrival in Ireland.

STEP 1: Visit the website of the Irish Naturalization and Immigration Service, and apply for an Ireland Study Visa. 

STEP 2: Print the application form – sign, date, and submit the form with the mandated supporting documents mentioned above. 

STEP 3: Book an appointment. Depending on your country of residence you may need to submit your documents to the Irish embassy/consulate, dedicated visa offices, or directly to INIS in Dublin. 

STEP 4: Head to the visa application center and attend your appointment. Here you will be asked to submit your documents for an Ireland Study Visa. 

STEP 5: Wait for your visa to be processed. The processing time of your Ireland Study Visa can take anywhere between 8 weeks and 2 months. You can track your visa application through the official website.
