Canada is a great place for international students since it has several top-notch universities and active, multicultural student communities. One of the first things you'll need if you want to study in Canada is a Canadian study permit.
While some individuals may be able to apply for a study permit from within Canada, you'll likely need to do this before you travel there. Today, we walk you through each of the crucial steps in the Canadian student visa application process so you can get it right the first time.
Here is everything you need to get your application off to the best possible start, from fees and exemptions to the crucial Canadian student visa criteria for international applicants.
Step 1: Submit a college or university application.
Obtaining admission acceptance or an offer letter from an accredited educational institution is the first step in starting the Canadian study visa application process. In Canada, there are several colleges and institutions that provide students with a variety of degrees and study options.
Step 2: Pay the university fees
The next step for you is to pay the college or university fees after receiving an offer letter. You can use an international wire transfer to pay your fees. You will receive a receipt once the institution has received and processed your fee. The receipt must be saved because it will be needed when you submit your visa application.
Step 3: Invest in GIC
The student's next step is to purchase a GIC or Guaranteed Investment Scheme. Each international student must have a GIC to cover living expenses after they arrive in Canada. The GIC has a $10,200 value and can be bought from any participating bank. Administrative fees are deducted by the bank, which averages $200 but might vary from bank to bank. Upon arrival in Canada, you will be given $2,000, and the remaining $8,000 will be given to you in 12 equal payments for living expenses.
Step 4: Get yourself medically examined
You will now need to undergo a medical examination by a physician licensed by the Canadian government. You will be given a receipt for your medical examination, even though the results will be sent straight to the immigration authorities. The receipt will be provided when the application is submitted.
Step 5: Submit visa application
The next step is to submit an application for a student visa to Canada.
Step 6: Obtain a visa.
You will get a communication from the Canadian government asking for your passport if your application is accepted. It can be delivered in person or by VFS. After that, you will get a temporary resident visa and a letter of introduction.
