The CLB - Canadian Language Benchmarks or NCLC - Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens are the national standards for English and French. These are used for recognizing, measuring, and describing the second language proficiency of adult immigrants and potential immigrants for residing and working in Canada.

The immigration applications will be processed by IRCC only based on CLB. In case you do not have your test for language results in CLB, it has to be from an IRCC-approved agency.

Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program: CELPIP

You have to take the General test under CELPIP. Express Entry does not allow the General-LS test.

International English Language Testing System: IELTS

You have to take the option General Training. Express Entry does not allow the Academic option.
