What is Subclass 491?

Skilled Work Regional 491 is a provisional visa through which you can live, work or study in a designated region of Australia for 5 years. While your visa is valid, you can travel to and from Australia as many times as you want. You can also apply for an Australia PR Visa (if eligible) through a Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) visa (subclass 191) after you have held subclass 491 for a minimum of 3 years.

You can include your family members when you have submitted your visa application. Dependent children can also be included even after a visa application has been submitted but before any decision is made on your application.

What is the cost to apply for Australia Subclass 491 provisional visa?

The fee for the main applicant is AUD 4,045. For each additional family member with your application, you need to pay their fees also. 

You may be asked to pay extra for any applicant 18 years old or older with less than functional English. This charge is called the second installment. The fee for the second installment is AUD 4,890.

You can apply for this from outside or inside of Australia, but you must not be in immigration clearance when you have applied for the visa and a decision is being made on your application.

• Must have Competent English proficiency.

• Your profession must be on the combined list of eligible skilled occupations for a Skilled Regional (subclass 491) visa.
