Millions of individuals aspire to move to Canada each year but only those who meet the Canada PR eligibility, achieve the required CRS score and submit complete documentation with their application - get the chance to turn their dream into a reality.

Most applicants choose Express Entry to apply for a Canada PR visa from India, under which applications are processed within 6 months. This makes it one of the fastest ways to immigrate to Canada. But many applications are rejected and the most common reason is the lack of/incomplete documentation. Therefore, meeting the requirements and checking the documents before submitting them to successfully get your permanent residency visa is of absolute priority.

Only completing an online Express Entry profile or entering the pool will not guarantee an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence. When you enter the Express Entry pool, your profile is ranked against other candidates and given a CRS score.

Candidates with higher scores have a higher chance of getting selected for an ITA in the next Express Entry draw. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will then invite you to submit a complete application for permanent residence.

If you get an invite from IRCC to apply, you must submit the following documents required for Canada immigration along with those you used to create the Express Entry profile:

upload copies of the documents you used for your profile along with those listed below:

  • Police Clearance Certificates to prove zero criminal background.
  • Proof that you have funds to support yourself and any accompanying family members.
  • If you have dependent children with you, submit a birth certificate.
  • If you have a dependent child who is adopted, submit adoption papers.
  • If you are in a common-law relationship, submit a common-law union form.
  • If you are legally married, submit a marriage certificate.
  • If you are divorced, submit a divorce certificate and legal separation agreement.
  • If you are widowed, submit the death certificate of your late husband.
  • If you have hired a representative, submit a Representative form.

Earlier, candidates were required to take a medical exam before submitting their application for a Canada Express Entry program. But as of October 1, 2023, this is no longer a requirement. You no longer have to get an upfront medical exam done before submitting your PR application through Express Entry.

Wait for the IRCC to notify you.

What’s Next?

When all documentation is submitted, sit back and wait. IRCC processes most Express Entry applications within 6 months or less after receiving your complete application.

Do not forget that if you fail to provide any document listed in the checklist, your application will be rejected. Not just this but the authorities could also deny your application if the processing office does not have enough information on file to ensure you meet the requirements of the Express Entry program you are applying for.
