IRCC relies on a points-based immigration program for overseas professionals seeking to settle in Canada through the Express Entry Program. Professionals are given points based on their qualifications, experience, work status in Canada, and provincial or territorial nomination. One of the simplest and quickest ways to apply for Canadian permanent residency is through Express Entry. However, one should be careful while following the steps to successfully submit your Express Entry profile.

Here's a step-by-step guide to creating and submitting your Express Entry profile:

Step 1: Take an IELTS test.

The Express Entry system requires applicants for all skilled immigration programs to demonstrate proficiency in at least one of Canada's two official languages, either English or French. Therefore, candidates for skilled immigration must pass a language exam that has been approved by the government and mention the findings in their profile.

Step 2: Get your ECA report

Candidates who received their education outside of Canada should have their diplomas evaluated to make sure that they are comparable to a comparable Canadian degree. Anyone who wishes to immigrate to Canada under the Federal Skilled Worker Program must obtain a credential assessment. If a candidate is applying under the Canadian Experience Class or the Federal Skilled Trade Program, the assessment is NOT required. Despite not being required for all Express Entry programs, a successful credential evaluation can significantly boost an applicant's chances of acceptance regardless of the Express Entry program for which they apply. Therefore, it is advised that all applicants for all Express Entry programs get their credentials evaluated.

Step 3: Identify Your National Occupation Classification (NOC code)

All candidates must be able to demonstrate that their work experience satisfies the requirements of an occupation that is listed in Canada's National Occupation Classification database in order to be admitted to Canada utilizing the Express Entry system. Only candidates who have the aforementioned kind of work experience are eligible to submit an Express Entry application.

  • Skill Type 0 (Management Jobs)
  • Skill Level A (Professional Jobs)
  • Skill Level B (Technical Jobs and Skilled Trades)

Step 4: Establish Your Express Entry Eligibility Immigration

On the government official website of Canada, there is a tool that candidates can use to check their eligibility for the Express Entry system. Before an Express Entry profile can be created, this tool must be used. Those that wish to use the tool must:

  • You already passed a language test
  • Choose the National Occupation Classification (NOC) skill type or level that best fits their application.

Step 5: Create your Express Entry profile

You will be able to start creating your Express Entry profile if the online tool decides that you are qualified to apply for Express Entry immigration. The following details must be included in applicants' Express Entry profiles:

  • Identity and age
  • Contact Information
  • A detailed account of their educational history
  • A detailed account of their work experience
  • Language proficiency
  • Factors that facilitate their adaptability to life in Canada
  • Family composition
  • Information on their spouse or common-law partner, if applicable

Identify Your National Occupation Classification (NOC code)

A profile must be successfully completed by applicants having the following information on hand:

  • A passport
  • The National Occupation Classification Database's title and code for the occupation that most accurately describes their work history.
  • results of language tests.
  • Evaluation of foreign educational credentials, if applicable.
  • A copy of a job offer in writing from a Canadian firm (if the applicant has been offered a job).
  • Documentation supporting a provincial nomination for permanent residence (if the candidate has received a provincial nomination).
  • Personal reference number obtained from the IRCC's online eligibility checker. Upon successfully utilizing the online tool, each candidate will be given a reference code.

Step 6: Submit Your Profile

Your profile should be submitted once it has been finished and all required information has been given. You will be given an Express Entry profile number and a job seeker validation code once the profile has been submitted.

You will be included in the Express Entry candidate pool if your profile meets both the Express Entry standards and the qualifications for one of the three Express Entry immigration programs (Skilled Worker, Skilled Trade, or Canada Experience Class).

Step 7: Whenever necessary, update your information

You should update your Express Entry profile if any of the following occur:

  • Your work experience changes
  • You get new language test results
  • You get a new academic diploma; you must update your Express Entry profile.
  • Your family structure has changed due to events like a child losing their status as a dependent, marriage, divorce, or birth.
An Express Entry profile is valid for a year. However, the profile can get disabled if:

  • The applicant no longer satisfies the necessary requirements for Express Entry or the skilled immigration program.
  • The applicant has been given permission to submit a permanent residency application.
