What is an Invitation to Apply (ITA)?

The ITA is an automatically generated response for Express Entry applicants through their online accounts. With an ITA, you can submit your application for a Canada PR Visa to the IRCC.

It is important to note that getting an ITA does not guarantee that you will get your PR Visa. Once you have submitted your application, it will be assessed by the IRCC and on a successful evaluation of your application, you will get your Canada permanent residency.

How to get an ITA for Canada PR Visa?

To get an ITA through the Express Entry program, you have to meet two criteria:

First, you must be eligible to register under any one of the three immigration programs managed by the Express Entry program:

• Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)

• Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)

• Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

Once, you are able to meet the minimum requirements of any one of these programs, you are able to create an express entry profile and get your profile submitted into the express entry pool. Second, you have to clear the latest CRS score cut-off to get an ITA in the latest round of invitations.

What to do after getting an ITA?

Once you get an ITA, you have 60 calendar days to do any one of the following:

• Submit your application for Canada PR Visa: You have to submit your application with the proper set of documents to the IRCC for Canada PR Visa.

• Reject your ITA: If you are not able to submit your application within 60 days or they have become ineligible these days, their ITA will automatically get canceled and their express entry profile becomes active in the pool.

In case you do not reply to an ITA in 60 days, ITA will expire and your profile will no longer be in the express entry pool.

Update: Due to COVID-19, IRCC has given immigrants a total of 90 days to submit their complete applications.

What are the documents required for an ITA?

There is no checklist for all invited candidates. The checklist may depend on the program you are invited to, your marital status, your nationality, your professional or educational background, or other factors.

Following is the list of documents that you have to submit a copy of with your application:

• Valid passport

• Birth certificate

• Language test results

• Documents regarding your work experience

• PCC  Police Clearance Certificate

• Medical Certificate

• Photographs

Also, other documents can be asked by the IRCC that varies from case to case.

How to submit an application after getting an ITA?

The application submission process is entirely an online process and is known as e-APR (electronic application for permanent residence).

While submitting the application, you have to pay an application processing fee of CAD $850 for each adult included in the application. You also have to pay the Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF) CAD $515 per adult and CAD $230 per dependent child.
