The Express Entry system is the first draw in July 2025, and more Invitations to Apply (ITAs) have been issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Candidates from the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) who had accumulated at least 750 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points were invited to apply for permanent residency on July 7.

Express Entry Latest Draw Details

The Express Entry latest draw was held on July 7, 2025 and a total of 356 candidates were invited to apply for Canada PR under the PNP with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 750 or above.

  • Draw Type: Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
  • Number of issued ITAs: 356
  • CRS score: 750
  • Eligibility requirements: The candidate should have submitted an Express Entry profile before 4:09 am UTC on March 19, 2025.

It is also the initial draw that is anticipated during the month of July 2025, as part of a continuous process ending in April of alternating between Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and PNP draws. Over the last several months, the draws were dominated by these two types, with occasional draws among the candidates with French language skills or in the critical sectors.

Overview of Draw Types

Express Entry draws are of three main types:

  • 1. General Rounds of Invitations: The draws are used to attract the first-ranked candidates under all Express Entry programs, irrespective of their category (PNP, CEC, etc.).
  • 2. Program-Specific Rounds of Invitations: They invite candidates of particular streams, including the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) or the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). Therefore, only individuals who qualify for the CEC would be invited in a CEC candidate draw.
  • 3. Category-Based Invitations of Rounds: These rounds of invitations are focused on those candidates who fit certain labor market priorities aligned by the Immigration Minister. As an example, the priority in these draws is given to candidates who speak French or work in the field of high demand (healthcare or education).

Prioritizing Provincial Nominees

In general, the Canada PNP attracts nomination candidates from provinces and territories. PNP draws, which have targeted this demographic in 12 of the 24 draws conducted so far, have been a noteworthy feature of the Express Entry system in 2025.

Express Entry Draw Trends in 2025

In the initial half of 2025, there has been regular alternation of CEC and PNP draws. There has also been a marked increase in ITAs of specialists in the health sector and teachers, and also French-language speakers.

With such trends, the IRCC appears to be targeting the IRCC's needs within the labor sector and, in general, meeting the much-needed critical shortage in the Canadian labor market.

As of now, in 2025, the IRCC has invited 42,201 ITAs via the following distribution:

  • Provincial Nominee Program (PNP): 11 draws
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC): 5 draws
  • French language proficiency: 3 draws
  • Healthcare and Social Services: 2 drawings
  • Education: 1 draw

Looking Ahead: What to Expect

Further along in the year 2025, the trend of alternating draws between PNP and CEC candidates in Express Entry is likely to remain the same. The IRCC is also supposed to conduct some category-based rounds that focus on specific labor requirements, including French speakers and care providers.

Candidates who wish to obtain an ITA will be forced to maintain their profile in the Express Entry portal and be aware of the latest draws as competition rises because of the continuous need for skilled labor across sectors.
