Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted another Express Entry draw. Just yesterday, the department issued 1,980 invitations to candidates across a General draw.

The Express Entry latest draw held on March 26, 2024, saw invitations being issued to 1,500 candidates under the French language proficiency category. Invited candidates required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 388 to be eligible.

This was the fourth Express Entry draw conducted by IRCC in March. So far, the department has welcomed 7,305 candidates this month alone.

Express Entry Draw #291 - Results

Type of draw: French language proficiency

  • Number of invitations issued: 1,500
  • Rank required to be invited to apply: 1,500 or above
  • Date and time of round: March 26, 2024 at 15:59:36 UTC
  • CRS score of lowest-ranked candidate invited: 388
  • Tie-breaking rule: March 10, 2024 at 20:06:26 UTC

Candidates invited in this draw will now have 60 days to submit a complete application for permanent residency to the IRCC. If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the CRS score cut-off will be based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.

French language proficiency category

French language proficiency is one of the six categories finalized by IRCC for category-based Express Entry draws. Compared to the other five newly announced selection categories, French language proficiency is the only one that does not consider work experience as the key attribute to be invited to apply for Canada PR.

To be eligible under the French language proficiency category, you must

  • Have French-language test results that show a minimum score of 7 in all 4 language abilities on the Niveaux De Compétence Linguistique Canadiens.
  • Meet all of the requirements in the instructions for that invitation round.

Francophone immigration is the key to building French-speaking communities in Canada - especially outside of Quebec. The government is constantly working on developing new immigration policies to work toward restoring and increasing the demographic weight of Francophone minority communities across Canada.

Canada is all set to boost the promotion and selection of French-speaking PRs and has set ambitious targets to increase Francophone PR admissions on an ongoing basis.

According to the Canada Immigration Levels Plan 2024-2026, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is looking to welcome 31,500 French-speaking permanent residents (PRs) in 2025 and 36,000 newcomers under the same category in 2026.
